# Fully-funded PhD position in Sentiment Analysis for the Environment at the University of Turin

The University of Turin, Italy, invites applications for a fully-funded position as a PhD student with the Content-Centered Computing group, under the supervision of Dr. Cristina Bosco. The topic of the PhD project is the application of sentiment analysis approaches to multimodal data for the investigation of the relationship between man and the environment.

## Job description

The three-year appointment for PhD students is primarily focused on training and research work toward the final dissertation. Applicants are asked to submit a project proposal in the Natural Language Processing area, and in particular related to the topic of "Application of sentiment analysis approaches to multimodal data for the investigation of the relationship between man and the environment". The project should involve the development of resources in a multilingual perspective and of analysis tools that implement different approaches to address tasks related to the detection of human-environment relationship facets, and will create novel results and resources in this field.

The gross salary for PhD students is determined by national regulation and is currently 17,500 EUR per year (gross), corresponding to a net pay of about 1,290 EUR per month after taxes.

Starting date: beginning of 2022

## Qualifications

* Master’s degree in computer science or other relevant field * relevant courses and excellent grades in NLP-related topics * publications in NLP-related journal and conferences * fluency in spoken and written English (Italian is not required)

## Research environment

The Content-centered Computing group (https://cs.unito.it/do/gruppi.pl/Show?_id=453y) is a research group at the Department of Computer Science focused on the study and the development of "content items". The group is highly inter- and trans-disciplinary, with interests in Computational Linguistics, Multimedia, Cognitive Science, Semantic Web, and more, as well as the creation of language resources and the organization of evaluation campaigns.
