[Corpora-List] Research assistant position on computational metaphor analysis at Paderborn University (deadline July 31)

Dear members of the Corpora list,

the Department of Computer Science at Paderborn University offers a position as Research assistant (f/m/d). The salary is according to 13 TV-L, 100%.

This is a full-time position available from September 1st, 2021. The position is limited till June 30, 2025, and is related to the Transregional Collaborative Research Center TRR 318 "Constructing Explainability" of the Universities Paderborn and Bielefeld (www.uni-paderborn.de/en/trr318). We welcome doctoral students.

The position will be placed in the Computational Social Science Group ( https://cs.upb.de/css) at Paderborn University, which investigates research questions on the use of natural lan-guage using methods from computational linguistics and artificial intelligence. We are looking for candidates that are open and strive for self-development, with a passion for teamwork and research in a diverse and international group.

The position is part of the TRR's interdisciplinary subproject C04 on "Metaphors as an explanation tool" together with Cognitive Psychology. The candidate is expected to conduct innovative research on explainable artificial intelligence, aiming at publications at leading international conferences. A focus of subproject C04 is on the computational and visual analysis of metaphors in explanations.

Responsibilities: - Scientific work in the TRR 318 and in the Computational Social Science Group. - Interdisciplinary collaboration and participation in the TRR's graduate school. - Publication of project results at international conferences.

Essential Qualifications: - Master's degree in computer science (or comparable) with very good grades. - Strong background in methods from artificial intelligence and/or data science. - Advanced programming skills (Python or Java, and web technologies). - Very good English skills; proficiency in German, or willingness to learn German.
