PhD and Post-doc positions at Saarland University: - Integrating Vision and Language - Speech Recognition - Information Extraction ============================================ (Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or similar)

We anticipate the availability of new positions in upcoming projects. Different topics are available:

* Vision and Language: the goal of this project is to show the benefits of world knowledge and in particular visual information in language processing.

* Speech Recognition: in this project, the focus will be on interpretability and explainability.

* Information extraction: basic methods for low resource scenarios, noisy labels, transfer and multitask learning.

Requirements: The successful candidate should have a Ph.D./Master's in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Physics, Mathematics or a related discipline. Strong programming skills are essential. A good command of English is mandatory. Working knowledge of German is desirable but not a prerequisite.  Candidates for the Post Doc position must have completed their Ph.D. by the time of the appointment.

Salaries: The PhD position will be 75% of full time on the German E13 scale (TV-L). The Post-Doc position will be 100% of the full time on the German E13 scale (TV-L). The appointments will be for two to three years with possible extensions subject to follow-up funding.

About the department: The department of Language Science and Technology is one of the leading departments in the speech and language area in Europe. The flagship project at the moment is the CRC on Information Density and Linguistic Encoding. The department also runs a significant number of European and nationally funded projects. In total it has seven faculty and around 80 postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
