This position is funded jointly by the This position is funded by the ERC MultiMT project (https://multimt.github.io/): Multimodal Context Modelling for Machine Translation and a US Air Force Research Lab-funded project on region-specific multimodal machine translation. ERC (European Research Council) research grants provide “attractive, long-term funding to support excellent investigators and their research teams to pursue ground-breaking, high-gain/high-risk research. Part time positions would be considered.
Research funded by the ERC is expected to lead to advances at the frontiers of knowledge and to set a clear and inspirational target for frontier research across Europe” (ERC Work Programme 2015). These projects are led by Professor Lucia Specia (http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~lspecia/) at Imperial College London. It is a highly interdisciplinary project involving natural language processing, speech processing, computer vision and machine learning.
