Post-doctoral positions at LIMSI-CNRS, Paris Saclay (Paris Sud) University in NLP, Dialogue systems and ML

CONTEXT

LIMSI is a multi-disciplinary research unit whose man-machine communication department addresses various aspects of automatic processing of human language for a wide range of application domains and research areas ranging from: speech processing, machine translation, opinion mining, question answering, man-machine dialog, sign language, bio-medical informatics etc.

In the international context of the CHIST-ERA european project LIHLITH, in collaboration with U. of the Basque Country (San Sebastian, Spain), UNED (Spain, Zurich U. of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), Synapse Develpment (Toulouse, France), LIMSI invites applications for a postdoctoral position in Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning and Dialog Systems, for 12 months, renewable (see ADDITIONAL INFORMATION below).

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate will do research in the ILES (information, written and signed Languages) group at LIMSI, under the supervision of Sophie Rosset at the frontiere of the three following areas:

1- task oriented dialog systems. 2- reinforcement learning, 3- lifelong learning (continuous online adaptation of an automatic dialog system after deployment).

The main requirements for the positions are: - a Ph.D. in computer science with a focus on either Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning or Dialog Systems,

- a good publication record, - strong programming skills (python, under linux), accessorily with proeficiencies in C, C++ or Lua,

- using either French (a plus) or English as working language, with a sufficient mastering of the latter for international collaboration.

RESEARCH TASKS

The candidate will contribute to ongoing research in the LIHLITH project on Life Long Learning for Automatic Dialog Systems. S/he will develop hypotheses, set-up experiments and write articles in collaboraion with the other ILES members involved in the project. One of the his/her first task will be the drawing in collaboration with the project members of a detailed work plan for his postdoctoral work at LIMSI, based on his recent research experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Net salary: between 2000 and 2200 € per month according to experience

Benefits: as a unit of Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), a French government agency among the leading research institution in Europe, LIMSI offers a generous benefit package including health insurance and 44 days vacation pa.

Duration: 12 months, renewable depending on performance and funding availability

Start date: no later than December 1, 2018.
