[Corpora-List] CfP: Learner Corpus Research 2019

The 5th Learner Corpus Research Conference will be hosted by the Institute
of Applied Linguistics, University of Warsaw (Warsaw, Poland) on 12-14
September, 2019. It will be the fifth in the series of successful
conferences, which took place in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) in 2011, Bergen
(Norway) in 2013, Cuijk (the Netherlands) in 2015 and Bolzano/Bozen (Italy)
in 2017. The conference is organised under the aegis of the Learner Corpus
Association. Its aim is to bring together researchers, software developers
and language teachers with a common interest in the use of learner corpora
for research on second language acquisition, as well as for the enhancement
of language pedagogy and language assessment. More specifically, the LCR2019
Conference aims to showcase the latest developments in the field of learner
corpus research regarding the description of learner language and the design
of innovative methods and tools to analyse it. The conference will feature
keynote lectures, full paper presentations, work in progress reports, poster
presentations, software demonstrations and a book exhibition. 

 

Keynote speakers

The following keynote speakers have confirmed their participation in the
conference:

*         Magali Paquot (Université catholique de Louvain)

*         Piotr Pęzik (University of Łódź)

*         Luke Plonsky (Northern Arizona University)

*         Nick Saville (Cambridge English Language Assessment)

 

Submissions

We welcome papers that address all aspects of Learner Corpus Research, in
particular the following ones:

*	Corpora as pedagogical resources
*	Corpus-based transfer studies
*	Data mining and other explorative approaches to learner corpora
*	English as a Lingua Franca
*	Error annotation
*	Innovative ways of annotating, searching and analysing  learner
corpora
*	Language testing and assessment
*	Learner Corpus Research (LCR) and the Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages (CEFR). Looking for criterial features
*	Language for academic/specific purposes
*	Learner corpora for less commonly taught languages
*	Learner corpus research and Natural Language Processing
*	Combined use of learner corpus data and other data types (e.g.
experimental data)?Software tools for the analysis of learner corpus data
Statistical methods in learner corpus studies
*	Task and learner variables

*         LCR in the light of SLA theories

 

The language of the conference is English.

Abstracts

We welcome submissions pertaining to the main topics of the conference
listed above. Abstracts should be between 600 and 700 words (excluding a
list of references) and should provide the following:

*	clearly articulated research question(s) and its/their relevance;
*	the most important details about research approach, data and
methods;
*	(preliminary) results and their interpretation.

 

Abstracts should be submitted through EasyChair. Abstract submission will
open on 20 November 2018 and the deadline for submission is 20 January 2019.
Abstracts will be reviewed anonymously by the scientific committee.
Notification of the outcome of the review process will be sent by 31 March
2017.
