Dr. James Pawelski at the University of Pennsylvania, in collaboration with Dr. Louis Tay at Purdue University, seeks a Data Science Post-Doctoral Fellow to join in an exciting new project "The Humanities and Human Flourishing: A Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration for Understanding, Assessing, and Cultivating Well-Being". This project is sponsored by the Templeton Religion Trust and the University of Pennsylvania and involves close collaboration with Dr. Martin E.P. Seligman and Dr. Lyle Ungar. Its aim is to identify and assess the mechanisms through which the humanities influence physical, psychological, and normative aspects of human flourishing through both qualitative and quantitative methods.

This work will require a Post-Doctoral Fellow with expertise in data mining, text and language analysis, and data visualization to develop new modes and methods of assessing well-being. This will include the use of innovative mobile technologies (e.g., www.expimetrics.com), wearable technologies and daily health data, and social media data. Results will be published in a variety of psychology, humanities, computer science, and research methods venues.

This will be a one-year position starting on August 1, 2019, with funding for subsequent years to be awarded based on performance. The individual will be appointed as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of the Humanities and Human Flourishing Project. They will also work closely with the World Well-Being Project ( www.wwbp.org) at Penn's Positive Psychology Center.
