The Computational Linguistics / Turkic Linguistics group at Uppsala University has an open position for a PhD student.

Project description: The primary aim of the project is to develop a corpus-based database storing historical linguistic data (in the given project Early Modern Karaim Bible translations and, in the long run, Middle Turkic written documents in general). Towards this aim, the project should develop a general-purpose data model/ontology within the frame of the Semantic Web and propose possible realizations in the form of a software framework and modularized program components. Karaim Bible is a project funded by the European Research Council under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. As an integrated part of this ERC project, the PhD project involves collaboration with the Jagiellonian University in Krakˇw. The final form of the PhD project will be determined in collaboration with the project leadership.
