The Computer Science Department at the IT University of Copenhagen invites applications for one or more full time faculty positions in Data Science at the rank of assistant professor or associate professor. The proposed starting date is November 2018 or soon thereafter.

The Computer Science Department seeks to conduct research and education that are both foundational and have impact on industry and society.
*The candidate *We look to hire strong candidates holding a PhD in data science, computer science, or a closely related field.
Preference will be given to experienced applicants and to applicants who can plan and conduct research-based teaching in one or more of the following areas:
- Machine learning, (machine) learning theory
- Data visualization, communication to domain experts
- Other fields of data science, such as large-scale data analysis,
computational statistics, privacy aspects of data science.
We further encourage exceptional candidates to apply regardless of data science subfield.
*The ideal candidate should document: *
- Publications of research at a high international level in
well-respected peer reviewed venues
- Competences in developing and conducting teaching that is well
received by students
- A record of contributing to the goals of the institutions in which
he/she has worked, for example participation in committees, etc.
In addition, candidates for the position as associate professorship should be able to:
- Attract external research funding
- Supervise PhD students
- Read/speak a Scandinavian language - or have the willingness to learn
*General information *The IT University of Copenhagen is a teaching and research-based tertiary institution concerned with information technology and the opportunities it offers. The IT University has more than 70 full-time faculty. Research and teaching in information technology span all academic activities which involve computers including computer science, information and media sciences, humanities and social sciences, business impact and the commercialisation of IT.

*Salary *Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC).

The IT University may use shortlisting in connection to the recruitment process.
