====PhD position at IRIT/Toulouse University on Hate Speech Detection=======

The Institut de Recherche en Informatique de Toulouse (IRIT, https://www.irit.fr/) at Toulouse University (south west France) is offering a three-years PhD grant available from October 1st 2018 on Natural language Processing. The PhD will join the MELODI team (https://www.irit.fr/-MELODI-Team-?lang=en) a highly internationally recognized group working on NLP and knowledge representation. The PhD student will also work in collaboration with communication scientists from the MediaPolis team at Laboratoire d'Études et de Recherches Appliquées en Sciences Sociales (LERASS, https://www.lerass.com/).

The candidate will work on Hate Speech Detection in Social Media continuing our previous work on sentiment analysis and irony detection.

**Candidate specification**

We are looking for a candidate with a Master degree in computer science or a related, relevant discipline. The ideal candidate should have:

--Experience in Natural Language Processing, Machine learning and information extraction from social media

--Experience in sentiment/emotion analysis will be a plus

--Strong programming skills in Python/Java
