Conference Announcement and Call for Participation


You are invited to attend the fourth edition of the Italian Conference on Computational Linguistics, CLiC-it, which will be held in Rome on 11-13 December, 2017. The conference is locally organised by University of Rome "Tor Vergata", and is hosted at the headquarters of the Italian Research Council. The CLiC-it conference series is an initiative of the Italian Association for Computational Linguistics (AILC) which, after four years of activity, has clearly established itself as the premier national forum for research and development in the fields of Computational Linguistics and Natural Language Processing, where leading researchers and practitioners from academia and industry meet to share their research results, experiences, and challenges.

A detailed program of the conference is available at:


The technical part consists of 21 oral presentations, 37 poster presentations, and 5 research communications. The conference also features 3 keynote speakers:

* Marco Baroni (Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research): Searching for general models that learn compositionally

* Yoav Goldberg (Bar-Ilan University): Doing Stuff with Long Short Term Memory networks

* Rada Mihalcea (University of Michigan): Computational Sociolinguistics –- An Emerging Partnership

For the first time this year the conference includes a tutorial program, with the following two events:

* Yoav Goldberg (Bar-Ilan University): Implementing dynamic neural networks for language with DyNet

* Elisabetta Jezek (University of Pavia): Stretching the Meaning of Words: Inputs for Lexical Resources and Lexical Semantic Models

Finally, the conference hosts two panel presentations:

* NLP Teaching in Italy and Europe, coordinated by Malvina Nissim (University of Groningen)

* The AgID AI Task force: Work in Progress and Perspectives, coordinated by Bernardo Magnini (Fondazione Bruno Kessler)

Awards ---------- In order to award the work of young researchers, the title of best paper will be attributed by a special jury to a paper with a PhD student and/or postDoc first author. To recognise excellence in student research a prize will also be awarded by a special jury to the best master thesis in Computational Linguistics submitted at an Italian university.
