We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position in the MultiSem ANR project at the LIMSI CNRS lab.

MultiSem aims to propose novel multilingual models for semantics capable of adapting processing to the disambiguation needs of specific lexical items and texts. The proposed dynamic models will combine high-level and fine-grained disambiguation techniques. Document-level domain and topic-related information will serve to confine selection to semantic interpretations valid in specific contexts and will be complemented, when necessary, with finer-grained semantic analysis.

The postdoctoral researcher will work on ambiguity type detection and genre identification for defining the disambiguation needs of specific words and texts, and selecting the optimal semantic representations and ambiguity resolution techniques in this multi-layer framework.

The successful applicant will have completed a Ph.D. degree in computational linguistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science, or a related discipline and will be able to demonstrate a track record of strong publications. Solid background in machine learning for semantic processing and experience with neural network models, psycholingustic modelling and/or multilingual NLP will be a plus. Fluent English is compulsory. Working knowledge of French will be a plus but is not required.

Applications including: * a research statement * a curriculum vitae * a list of publications * a copy of the PhD * names of two references

should be sent to Marianna Apidianaki, marianna at limsi.fr

The position is open from October 2017 onwards. Applications will be accepted until the vacancy has been filled. The duration of the postdoc is 12 months. Payment is according to the CNRS pay scale. The monthly salary will be between 2,089 and 2,410€ depending on experience (health insurance included).

LIMSI is a laboratory of the French National Research Center (CNRS), a leading research institution in Europe. It is a strongly multi-disciplinary laboratory which hosts researchers from Engineering and Computer Science, Life and Social Sciences. Its scientific field covers Natural Language Processing, Human-Machine Interaction, Augmented and Virtual Reality, Fluid Mechanics, and Energetics. LIMSI is also associated with two universities: the University of Paris-Sud and the University of Paris-Saclay, which groups several computer science labs and institutions situated on the Paris-Saclay campus. The LIMSI lab is located in a green area about 30 minutes south of Paris. For more information, see https://www.limsi.fr/en/ <https://www.limsi.fr/en/>
