Two new lecturer positions in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence have become available at the University of Essex's School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering: https://vacancies.essex.ac.uk/tlive_webrecruitment/wrd/run/ETREC107GF.open?VACANCY_ID=928165CFAt&WVID=9918109NEm&LANG=USA

These positions would be suitable for researchers with a focus on computational linguistics or logics and AI.

The University of Essex has a long tradition in computational linguistics (last year we celebrated the first 40 years) and over this period a number of distinguished members of our community graduated or otherwise spent some time among us as post-doctoral researchers or faculty. At present, the University's interdisciplinary Language and Computation Group:

numbers over 20 faculty, postdocs and PhDs also from the Department of Language and Linguistics and from the Data Archive, whose research covers a number of areas including adaptive search, anaphora resolution / coreference, Arabic NLP, constraint-based grammar, crowdsourcing and games-with-a-purpose for NLP, information extraction, formal semantics and semantic interpretation, neuroscience and NLP, social media, and summarization. We are heavily involved in the EPSRC's Doctoral Training Centre in Games and AI

http://www.iggi.org.uk/

and in a number of ESRC funded research centres in the social sciences, including the recently funded Centre for Big Data and Human Rights, as well as in a number of other projects, including one funded by ERC on disagreements in anaphora.

AI is one of the key research areas in the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, with strong groups in BCI, Games and AI, Intelligent Environments, Machine Learning, and Robotics, with all of which we have active collaborations. We also have active collaborations with the Departments of Law, Government and Sociology, and with the Department of Psychology's Centre for Brain Science.

The University of Essex is a great place to work and we are located in a lovely part of the country, with easy access to the sea and to London.

Deadline for applications is 7th of February. The page listed above provides all information for applying, but feel free to contact us for additional information:
