[Apologies for any cross-postings.]

Dear CL colleagues,

I'd like to invite you to a British Academy Skills Innovator project of mine aimed at enhancing quantitative and language skills development in the UK. Targeted at MA/PhD students, language teachers and early-career researchers, the project will focus on the application of Corpus Linguistics in Education. This capacity-building initiative will consist of three face-to-face events on 17 June, 09 September and 09 December (always on a Friday) and a series of on-line activities in-between the events. Prior knowledge of Corpus Linguistics is not a requirement, so everyone who has a keen interest in learning more about its application in Education is more than welcome to apply.

There'll be interactive sessions on Language Learning/Teaching, General English and English for Academic Purposes in the event series. A number of colleagues have agreed to present at this capacity-building initiative such as Prof. Ronald Carter (Nottingham), Prof. Guy Aston (Italy), Dr. Ute Romer (US), Prof. Marina Bondi (Italy) and Dr. Paul Thompson (Birmingham). For a full list of guest speakers, please see http://www.stir.ac.uk/corpus-linguistics-in-education/events/ .

This is an entirely free initiative, and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional information about the project (including the on-line registration form) may be found at http://www.stir.ac.uk/corpus-linguistics-in-education/ .

I look forward to meeting some colleagues at Stirling, and I would appreciate it if you could help spread the word about the event series.

With thanks, Vander
