Theprofessor will base his/her teaching and research on corpora, considering the linguistic system in its relation to use, which means being able to observe, but also to reflect upon the status of language variation. Variation can be seen from various perspectives: sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, genre analysis, or diachronic typology; this list is not exhaustive. Priority will be given to candidates demonstrating an ability for reflective practice in the constitution and use of corpora; the successful candidate will collaborate with specialists in NLP, researchers and engineers. The candidate must have a proven ability forteamwork, both in research and in teaching.
He / shemay be led to interact with experts in a wide range of different areas (didactics, theoretical linguistics, language engineering, for example), as part of research projects and training courses (BA in Linguistics, joint teaching with other departments of the Faculty Phillia or other Faculties, Master FLDL -http: //master-fldl.u-paris10.fr/-, /etc./). The teaching load will include giving courses in sociolinguistics. The candidate will also, however, demonstrate that he/she is able to adapt to current scientific developments (Digital Humanities, IT and statistical tools), as well as the foreseeable development of the university system in the content of education and methods.
Thecandidate will present his research project which is expected to fall within the scope of the research conducted in the MoDyCO laboratory (www.modydo.fr). The successful candidate should be able to build corpora to document language usage and language variation, and to engage in theoretical reflection in line with the ongoing national and international debates in the discipline about the place of discourse and use. It is also important that the candidate be able to make a significant contribution to current thinking on the rapidly changing field of Linguistics (data-driven analysis, quantitative analysis, dynamic modeling).
