[Apologies for multiple postings] Italian Journal of Computational Linguistics, Special Issue on Digital Humanities and Computational Linguistics Call Deadline: September 15, 2016

Guest editors Sara Tonelli (Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento) John Nerbonne (University of Groningen & Freiburg) The third volume of the IJCol (Italian Journal of Computational Linguistics), expected to appear in December 2016, will be a special issue devoted to “Digital Humanities and Computational Linguistics”. Digital Humanities research has its roots both nationally and internationally more than 60 years ago, in the pioneering work first by an Italian Jesuit priest, Father Roberto Busa, and then by Antonio Zampolli. Since then, the Computational Linguistics community has significantly contributed to the research in the area with methods, techniques and tools as well as linguistic resources and infrastructures, which have enabled important advances in different areas of humanistic research. In addition, Digital Humanities represent nowadays a breeding ground for the application, development and refinement of innovative Computational Linguistics technologies, thus creating an even more exciting synergy.
