Short term research position in NLP in Paris (Uralic languages)

The LATTICE Research Unit in Paris calls for applications for a 8 months position in natural language processing (NLP) in the framework of the research project LAKME, funded by the university cluster Paris-Sciences-Lettres.

The aim of this project is the development of algorithms for the analysis of Uralic languages (parsing, unsupervised morphology analysis, etc). We are looking for a motivated young researcher who can imagine innovative solutions to complex problems. Prior experience in natural language (esp. tagging and parsing morphology-rich languages) would be a plus. Knowledge of one or more Uralic languages is necessary (Knowledge of some Uralic languages from Russia would be a plus). The precise work plan will be defined according to the qualifications and interests of the candidate.

The position is open for post-doc and engineers. Salary will depends on the qualification of the candidate. The initial duration of the position may be extended up to one year, depending on funding.

Requirements: * Experience in natural language processing * Skills in tagging / parsing, esp. of morphology-rich languages would be a strong asset * Basic knowledge of one or several Uralic languages (esp. languages spoken in Russia) * Fluent English
