[Corpora-List] Post-doc position in NLP at the University of Edinburgh

The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh invites applications for a Research Associate position on the project ``TransModal: Translating from Multiple Modalities into Text'', funded by the European Research Council (ERC). The project seeks to extract meaning representations from different data sources such as databases, images, and unstructured text and to employ these in machine reading tasks such as question answering, semantic parsing, summarization or semantic role labeling. There is a lot of project flexibility, related research topics include but are not limited to: a) learning embedded representations of large knowldege bases and/or of texts and images b) natural language understanding from multimodal data (e.g., images and/or video), c) learning embeddings for documents, and d) generating multimodal data.

The position is suitable for a candidate with a PhD degree and top-tier peer-reviewed publications in statistical natural language processing and/or machine learning. The successful applicant will have strong programming skills, and experience applying machine learning to text-related problems. Experience with image processing and deep learning methods is also desirable. The candidate is also expected to be capable of working independently, have strong communication skills, and to work in a team.

This full-time post is available from 15 September 2016, or as soon as possible thereafter and is fixed term for 12 months (with the possibility of extension). The post is on the UE07 scale (31,656-37,768 GBP).
