Title: e-Quality and quality indicators for the medication prescriptions

Description: The PhD addresses the e-Quality of clinical documents, more in particular, the e-quality of medical care and prescriptions, on the basis of NLP methods. The analysis will be based on clinical data in French. e-Quality is an important step which guarantees the efficiency of patients' care and their security [1]. The objective is to develop and implement NLP methods, efficient and reproducible, which allow to define, extract and analyse quality indicators relative to a given question. Medicine prescription (oral anticoagulants) is the use case to be studied. Indeed, prescriptions of oral anticoagulants (Vitamin K antagonist and Direct Xa inhibitor) constitute a major challenge for improving the quality, security and efficacy of care [2-4]. Moreover, such prescriptions are issued to a wide range of patients [5]. The purpose of this PhD is to develop automatic methods for the detection and extraction of indicators defined by experts (medical doctors, pharmacists, pharmacovigilants...) [6-8]. The detection is to be done on non-structured and structured documents and data [9-13]. An evaluation will be performed to assess the usability of methods with various types of data and in different hospitals. This PhD offers the possibility for inter-disciplinary collaboration as it brings together experts from various domains: NLP, linguistics and computer sciences. Besides interaction with experts from the medical field (doctors, pharmacists, pharmacovigilants...) are necessary for the definition of the indicators and the evaluation of the NLP methods.

Requirements for the candidates: - Candidates must be in possession of Masters degree by June, 23rd 2016 (in July 2016 at the latest) (French M2 or equivalent) - have a final grade of 16/20 (French M2 or equivalent) - master NLP methods (information extraction, terminologies...) - have the capacity of working independently and as part of a team - be fluent in French
