Apologies for any cross-posting.
The Department of Linguistics and English Language (LAEL) and the Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS) are seeking to appoint a HMG-funded research associate to the Native Language Influence Detection 6 (NLID6) project at the earliest possible opportunity. The post is offered at 0.6 FTE for 24 months but the FTE proportion and duration may be negotiable.
We are looking for someone who has relevant research experience in corpus linguistics, however experience with forensic linguistics, fluency in a second language, and/or previous experience researching a language other than English is desirable. The ideal candidate will work under the direction of CI Dr. Claire Hardaker (myself), PI Dr Alistair Baron, and CI Dr Paul Rayson, investigating the influence of other languages on online English. The successful applicant will join an extensive, interdisciplinary team of internationally renowned academics and researchers from Lancaster's Departments of Linguistics and English Language (LAEL), Computing and Communications (SCC), the University Centre for Computer Corpus Research on Language (UCREL), and Security Lancaster, and from Aston University's Centre for Forensic Linguistics. The candidate will be based in Lancaster's Linguistics and English Language department, alongside other researchers in the Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS), and will potentially be offered excellent career progression opportunities.
