The University of Melbourne invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to work with Dr. Trevor Cohn on modelling multilingual text corpora with low resource languages. The position is part of the DARPA project ‘ARIEL: Analysis of Rare Incident-Event Languages', in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.

We are looking for candidates with experience in natural language processing (NLP), in particular empirical methods, and machine learning. The project will focus on modelling multi-lingual text corpora for low-resource scenarios with limited or no explicit supervision, bringing together technologies including active learning, reinforcement learning, multi-task learning and Bayesian optimisation. Candidates with interest in these areas as well as relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
