The position starts in January 2016 and ends in June 2019. The candidate will conduct research in the project B08 "Hierarchical frame induction via probabilistic models" of the Collaborative Research Center CRC 991 (head of the project: Prof. Dr. Laura Kallmeyer). http://www.sfb991.uni-duesseldorf.de/en/b08/ Project B08 aims at the unsupervised induction of frames for events described by verbs, using techniques from probabilistic frame modeling and from machine learning.
The candidate should have a computational linguistics background and experience in the area of machine learning.
Knowledge of German is not a prerequisite.
CRC 991 and the Department for Computational Linguistics offer a rich and stimulating research environment. The CRC (funded by the DFG) is a large collection of research projects; it focusses on the structure of representations in language, cognition and science with a particular emphasis on frames and on lexical semantics. Besides the CRC projects there are also other research projects in the areas of parsing, machine translation and grammar formalisms at the CL department.
The University seeks to advance the equality of men and women and therefore emphatically encourages women to apply. In case of equal qualification, preference will be given to people with disabilities.
Applications should include the following:
1. Cover letter outlining interest in the position and academic goals. 2. CV. 3. Copies of certificates. 4. Selected sample publications.
