*Job Summary:*

Northwestern University has A POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW* position in Biomedical Natural Language Processing (NLP) is open in the Division of Health and Biomedical Informatics. The position is part of multiple grants headed by Dr. Siddhartha Jonnalagadda. The successful candidate will participate in innovative research to use NLP methods for medical literature mining and clinical narratives in EHR. They will work in a stimulating environment of the Division of Health and Biomedical Informatics.

*Specific Responsibilities:*

- To conduct natural language processing research within the scope of

existing funding.

- Consultation with co-investigators on appropriate design and


- Work toward independent research writing papers, manuscripts,

presentations and briefs.

- Prepares written reports and publications as primary author and

presents research findings at regional and national meetings.

*Minimum Qualifications:*

- PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics or related fields with

a focus on Natural Language Processing or Computational Linguistics and

exposure to biomedical literature.

- Strong publication record in Biomedical Natural Language Processing.

- Willingness to coordinate and supervise part of the research work of

the project.

- Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a strong

commitment to achieving research goals.

- Solid programming skills.

- Java and practical expertise with standard NLP/related tools are


*Preferred Qualifications:*

- Knowledge of biomedical domain is a plus

- Experience in mining clinical literature or clinical narratives.
