The Sixth Baltic Conference HUMAN LANGUAGE TECHNOLOGIES - THE BALTIC PERSPECTIVE KAUNAS, Lithuania, September 26-27, 2014

Motivation ------------------------- The Sixth Baltic Conference is a great opportunity for researchers in the Baltics and surrounding regions to meet and discuss problems, issues, challenges, and achievements, as well as to foster cooperation in the area of natural language processing and human language technologies.

The event is also important for gathering and consolidating ideas for the following reasons: - a great urge for Baltic countries to establish and join international research infrastructures; - potential participation in the EU Research and Innovation programme Horizons 2020 and in the new period of the EU structural funds (2014-2020).

History ------------------------- The conference is the successor of the five previous Baltic HLT conferences held in Riga (2004), Tallinn (2005), Kaunas (2007), Riga (2010), and Tartu (2012).

Invitation for submission ------------------------- Organizers of the Sixth Baltic Conference invite the submission of abstracts on substantial, original, and unpublished research in the area of natural language processing and language technologies, including but not limited to the following topics:

- Compilation of language and speech resources - Corpus-based research - Discourse and dialogue - Information retrieval and extraction - Machine learning methods for language technologies - Stylometry and authorship attribution - Sentiment analysis - Text summarization - Question answering - Machine translation - Applications of Language technologies - New language processing tools - Speech recognition and synthesis

We especially welcome original research works on 3 Baltic languages (Lithuanian, Estonian, and Latvian).

Abstracts of papers (500–1000 words) will be blind reviewed by at least two members of the Programme Committee. Accepted papers selected by an international programme committee will be published in the official conference proceedings by IOS Press, Online Open Access, Book series: Frontiers in AI and Applications ([ http://www.frontiersinai.com/ ]www.frontiersinai.com).
