Adding to Ramesh's links and Trevor's, you might also try: 
http://www.usingenglish.com/resources/text-statistics.php  It returns various 
readability indices (though based mainly on the American education system). This 
would give you a surface account, but  it does not take into account the context 
and other variables necessary to understand a passage.
