******************************************* CLARET Workshop: Corpus compilation and annotation Lancaster University 24th May 2010

This is the third in a series of three workshop events, hosted by the CLARET partnership: the Universities of Nottingham, Birmingham and Lancaster.

The 2010 Corpus Linguistics Advanced Research Education and Training (CLARET) programme is a national research training programme in Corpus Linguistics running in the UK. It is open to doctoral students whose work involves the investigation of large amounts of electronically-stored language data.

The focus of the Lancaster workshop will be on corpus compilation, modes of corpus annotation, and statistical approaches to corpus data. The workshop will consist of presentations and hands-on work, and these sessions will be delivered by members of the University's Centre for Corpus Research (UCREL).

The event will be held on Monday, 24th May 2010, with registration at 10am. Lunch will be provided at 1pm and the workshop will finish at 4.30pm.

If you would like to attend the workshop, you are invited to apply for a place. Places are limited to thirty and preference is given to students from the three partner institutions. There are at least six places available, however, to applicants from outside. To apply, please e-mail a completed application form to Paul Thompson (p.thompson at bham.ac.uk) by 7th May 2010. The application form can be downloaded from: http://www.corpus.bham.ac.uk/claret/application_lanc10.rtf *******************************************
