Description:
Have you ever dreamed of endless powder snow and cutting fresh lines in untouched terrain? This weekend, we will drive to lake Jølster and explore some of the various topptur opportunities in the area.
This is no longer a trip for beginners, but you should have used topptur/randone equipment before. Ideally, you should know a little about avalanche safety and rescue. Anyway, we will have a training session about that on the first day’s trip.
We have booked a small cabin close the lake Jølster which we will use as base for day trips on Saturday and Sunday. Additionally, we plan to have a somewhat shorter trip on Friday before we arrive at the cabin.
We meet Friday morning at 8am and start the drive towards lake Jølster. The car ride is 4 hours including a ferry over Sognefjord. We are planning to have a first trip on the way, where we want to have some avalanche rescue training. After the trip, we drive all the way to the cabin. Once we have arrived at the cabin, we prepare common dinner and do some planning for the next day’s trip.
On Saturday, we will do a day trips around the lake and have a good time back at the cabin with common dinner and maybe some games.
On Sunday, we do another day trip before heading back to Bergen. We plan to be back in Bergen on Sunday evening, between 20:00 and 22:00.
We look forward to sharing our passion and hopefully getting 2 beautiful days in the mountains.

Ferdaråd (compulsary trip meeting):
It is mandatory (!) to participate in the trip meeting on Wednesday 13th of March at 16:00 in Student centre. Not showing up results in losing the place to the first on the waiting list.
Equipment:
You need the following equipment to participate:
* Topptur skis (Randone, telemark), boots, poles and skins – can be rented from BSI. However, we only have a limited number of pairs so if you can borrow somewhere else, that’s good. * Avalanche equipment: beacon, probe, shovel – can be rented from BSI. However, we only have a limited number of pairs so if you can borrow somewhere else, that’s good. * Goggles, water/wind proof clothes, hat and mittens * Head lamp
