Topptur for beginners II – Day trip on Saturday 09th of February Difficulty: 2 out of 4 Tour leaders: Timo Käfer, Søren Bering Description: You don’t always have to go far! On this one-day trip we will experience some of the good randonee / topptur possibilities we have close to Bergen. This trip is a bit more advanced than what we did on the introduction weekend but still well within the comfort zone of a first time on randonee and a good opportunity to get familiar with the essentials of backcountry skiing. We will most likely have some stops for avalanche assessment and rescue training. We don’t expect you to be an expert in handling the deep snow, however you need to be in decent shape, and it shouldn’t be your first time wearing skis. Obs: we start early on Saturday. Søren & Timo (The Danish/German dynamic duo) Ferdaråd (compulsary trip meeting): It is mandatory (!) to participate in the trip meeting on Wednesday 6th of February at 16:00 in Student centre. Not showing up results in losing the place to the first on the waiting list. Equipment: You need the following equipment to participate: • Topptur skis (Randone, telemark), boots, poles and skins – can be rented from BSI. However, we only have a limited number of pairs so if you can borrow somewhere else, that’s good. • Avalanche equipment: beacon, probe, shovel – can be rented from BSI. However, we only have a limited number of pairs so if you can borrow somewhere else, that’s good. • Goggles, water/wind proof clothes, hat and mittens Max participants: 10 Questions: Send a mail Timo and Søren timo.kaefer at gmail.com; sorenbering at gmail.com Registration: https://goo.gl/forms/BJ23VPIZCMVHfFFq1 Costs: Costs for transport are divided by all. Apart from that, the trip is free. *Regarding organized activities* BSI Friluft is a voluntary association where neither the board nor leaders of a trip get any economic benefits from this work. As such, the board and leaders of a trip do not necessarily possess qualifications as mountain guides and do not have any financial or judicial liability of any kind. By Norwegian law, in a case of emergency all are required to aid the person in need according to their own qualifications, physical abilities, and evaluation of the risk involved. Participators are strongly advised to assess their own qualifications before enlisting to a trip. The trip leaders do have the right to refuse participants who do not possess the technical or physical skills necessary to participate in a trip, All activities are undertaken at the participator`s own risk and responsibility, and by enlisting to a trip the participator confirms this.
