POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN DIALOGUE SYSTEMS
The School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh invites applications for a three-year postdoctoral researcher and a research fellow in DIALOGUE SYSTEMS, commencing June 1st, 2011 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Candidates should have experience in building and evaluating dialogue systems and an excellent track record in publishing papers as first author or co-author in high quality journals and conferences on such research. In addition, a working knolwedge of formally precise computational semantic models of dialogue processing and/or a background in formal models of human action and decision making (e.g., game theory, BDI logics, logics of preferences or AI-based models of planning) would be highly desirable.
The researcher will form part of a team that includes researchers in Toulouse, Edinburgh and Heriot Watt funded on an ERC grant entitled "Strategic Conversation". This grant aims to study and analyse non-cooperative natural language conversations in several domains, but in particular in the domain of the game Settlers of Catan (a trading game over restricted resources). The researcher will be collecting and analysing a corpus of humans playing Settlers, and building a symbolic dialogue system that plays Settlers.
The deadline for applications is 3rd MAY.
