"Legal Constraints for Digital Language Resources"
on 2009-09-28 at the Berlin-Brandenburgische Akademie der Wissenschaften (BBAW) in Berlin.
The aim of the workshop is to discuss individual approaches and best practices to deal with legal restrictions concerning the collection, distribution, and use of linguistic data, e.g. text corpora, audio and video resources. Another focus will be on ethical issues when dealing with, e.g. endangered languages. These issues become increasingly important when language resources are included in the currently evolving e-research infrastructures that for example, the European ESFRI-project CLARIN or its German counterpart D-SPIN are aiming at.
The workshop is organised by the D-SPIN project that is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). There is no registration fee. However, we would like to ask participants to register as soon as possible at http://www.ids-mannheim.de/d-spin/ap7ws09.html .
